The Lviv National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra
The National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine - Lviv has existed for more than two hundred years and is associated with the most distinguished musical personalities of this age. In the early 20th century, the orchestra has given performances under conductors including Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss, Jascha Horenstein, Yevgeny Mravinsky, Kirill Kondrashin and Gennady Rozhdestvensky while having collaborated with soloists including David Oistrakh, Leonid Kogan, Yuri Bashmet, Mstislav Rostropovich, Sviatoslav Richter and many others.
The National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine - Lviv is one of the largest orchestras in Ukraine, and is well known far beyond its borders. The orchestra has successfully toured throughout Europe, to countries including Poland, Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany and The Netherlands and most recently has undertaken its first three-week tour of China, in December, 2019. In September 2018 the Lviv Philharmonic Society was granted National status by the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko.
